5 Ways Influencers are damaging your body image

We are all aware that social media

is not the healthiest place and I feel it get worse and worse every year. I mean don’t get me wrong there also some amazing things about social media it can educate you and it can help with so many issues we as society are facing like for example racism I feel there would be way more racist people if there was no social media.

But social media also have quite a

dark side, a side that can get really toxic. And one of the main reasons we have toxic side of social media is because of influencers. These influencers that make you question your worth and make you feel your body is not good enough because they show you their perfectly photoshopped photos and make you feel it is real.

I could say so much about those

influencers and how wrong it is what they are doing, but let’s just stick to one topic at the time. You might think it might help you watching these influencers, but you are so wrong it is damaging you and your body image. I feel it can damage anyone’s body image, even if you are 100% happy with your body.

Of course when you see

perfect body on someone you wish to have it, but also feel shitty for not having it! But trust me if it looks perfect, I am sure 99.9% is fake. And also isn’t it more beautiful to have imperfections ? Well anyways let’s talk about it how they are damaging you

Only showing the highlights:

Influencers are known to show only highlights. They only post the perfect photo with perfect angle and the perfect setup, but that is not a real life. Our bodies won’t always look good in fact most times it doesn’t, when we sit it does look we have more than we have, when we are standing in the wrong angle it won’t look good either. And we also shouldn’t worry how we position ourselves because these influencers do it, we should be able to talk to our friends on the street without worrying how our body looks like. But when they just show the highlights it makes us feel insecure and makes us question our worth. We start to think if our body is really good enough.

And no one should feel this way,

everyone should feel that they are good enough because they are. Instead of focusing the best way you can look, focus on being the most real and how to make your followers feel good. But I can tell you one thing the reason influencers have need to only show highlights means they question their worth and therefor have to be perfect otherwise they feel insecure, so it is nothing against you and there is nothing wrong with you, it is them that have problem!

Comparison:

As I said before when we see these perfect bodies of course we want it too. So we end up comparing ourselves to these perfect bodies and it is not far fight since our bodies are not photoshopped or might not look the best at that moment. We end up wishing we had these bodies and that can put you in very dark place. We see our flaws but instead of embracing them we hate them because of what we see on social media. An influencer should make you feel good about your flaws not bad about it. It is stupid to compare yourself with everyone it makes no sense because we are all different, this influencer will never be you and you will never be that influencer. Own your power love who you are, don’t wish to be someone else!

Unrealistic expectations:

When you start comparing yourself and seeing your body next to these perfect bodies, of course you will try to achieve the perfect body. But see doesn’t matter how hard you work on it, you will never have the body that you see on social media. Because these perfect bodies that you see on social media ARE NOT REAL, they are photoshopped and honestly they don’t even think about how realistic this is they just do whatever looks good.

Our bodies can’t achieve what

photoshop can, it is impossible our bodies are built differently and it is not possible to achieve it. But that doesn’t mean that your body is not beautiful, because it is. This can leave us very frustrated and we can end up hating our bodies! This can also in general give you false image of ideal body. Because of these influencers you will end up thinking that this is the ideal body type, when in reality all bodies are ideal body types. There is no better or worse body type, it is your body so embrace it!

Eating disorder:

Showing the perfect can make someone feel they have to lose weight to have these perfect bodies. It can make people feel shitty about their own bodies. These people might stop eating because they think if they don’t even they could achieve the perfect body which is so false. Food is not your enemy, food is making sure your body keeps going.

Because of these influencers

so many can develop eating disorder even though they were perfectly health. It really pushes people because they think this is real and want it so badly. When you show your perfect body make sure to show the process how it got so perfect, this way you can prevent so many eating disorders!

Insecurities:

When you see all these perfect bodies of course you feel start to not feel so good in your own skin. When you see all these perfect bodies and of course you don’t have it, you will start to have insecurities. You will feel that you are not good enough and that can’t be good for anyone. Being insecure about yourself can have effects in many aspects of your life. For example you tend to get jealous at other people, and that can make you feel worse. People who are jealous can become the worse version of themselves and can drive people away. There are many disadvantages of having insecurities, but most importantly you don’t feel good and you can’t grow to the best version of yourself if you have insecurities. But it is not you, it is them!

As you can see influencers really

can damage you. They make you have different image of ideal body, the very wrong and false image of ideal body. Influencers make you feel shitty about yourself and make you question your worth. And of course I can’t forget they make you have unrealistic expectations and we are still looking up to them?! They are the wrong people. I true influencer would put his or hers followers first and make them feel good and show them the real them not some fake version. Maybe you do it because you are insecure, but you are damaging your followers so much and I feel it is so selfish.

Little tip:

If watch influencer and you feel shitty after that, unfollow them that means they are the wrong person to follow. We have to show them if they don’t take this seriously they will lose us, we don’t want fake stuff anymore. And another good advice just know if it is too good it is probably fake and see that you have more courage to show the real you and they don’t so this make you more beautiful!

Hopefully this can open eyes to many of you, and you start to rethink how you need to treat your followers and also to the followers you can open your eyes and see how fake they are!

7 Ways How Diet Culture is Toxic

7 Ways How Diet Culture is Toxic

Diet Culture really is toxic, just the fact that it makes people feel shitty about their bodies says a lot for me. Making people be scared of what they are eating and not being able to enjoy amazing food is not okay. Food is very important and main thing that makes you body keep going, how is this bad for your body? Please explain to me.

I mean when you think about it,

it is smart to sell stuff. Like for example fitness program, they make you eat just little bit and you lose weight and see results so you continue buying from them, but see then when you stop you see how useless it is. You go back to your old habits and then the weight goes back and plus you probably have damaged your beautiful body by having these habits but of course you can’t see that.

And I feel like no one actually enjoys

or likes these diets and I feel that is a good sign that these diets are just not good for anyone. A good person who is not just after your money will first never make you feel insecure about your body, and will actually sit down and make a good plan of food and workouts that you actually enjoy and this way you will form a habits that will stay your habits.

The results this way might

not come as fast, but they will come and will stay for long and they will be healthy. But sometimes it is hard to see the truth, the toxic diet culture can really trick you so today I will be showing you ways it is toxic in hopes that you will see it too and stop believing in them and buying from them!!

-Diet culture is toxic because it promotes discrimination:

Even though diet culture teaches you that everyone can be skinny, and that fat people are just lazy this is far from the truth, some people have type of body that are chubby, no matter if they exercise or not, and also some people love their beautiful chubby bodies and wouldn’t change them.

Even though everyone

has right to look how they want to look, because of the diet cultures there is so much discrimination towards different types of bodies especially the chubby bodies and this can really be toxic. Imagine a young child who is simply chubby has to keep hearing how ugly and disgusting they are even though it is not and it is not really something they can do something about it. They create really toxic environment and can cause many to be harmful towards themselves.

Reminder: Even though diet culture is saying you are ugly you need to lose weight, there is nothing wrong with you, the way you are is so beautiful. Your chubby body is beautiful!

-Diet culture is toxic because it is designed to take your money:

As I said before diet culture is smart they make you insecure so they can money from your insecurities. It is smart and evil at the same time. They give you all these promises how you will lose weight in short time, and you do lose weight by harming yourself and your health.

And you see the results

and then you keep buying and buying, so they make so much money by harming your health it is not okay. The goal is to be healthy, while staying in shape and n0t barley be able to eat or eat food you don’t enjoy. Remember you got to create habits that you will enjoy, and these programs just make you hate healthy lifestyle!

Reminder: Only because it sounds good it doesn’t mean it is actually good!

-It’s a setup for failure:

Diets don’t work and is has been proven over and over again they don’t work. First when we think about our bodies are so different so only based on that it doesn’t work. How is everyone suppose to lose weight when we all have different weight. Either you keep seeing results and then it stops, or you just can’t see any results and keep being annoyed by yourself for not getting any results. This can be really toxic for anyone. We humans are not used to failure so this can be really toxic for us.

Reminder: You know your body the best, listen to it and do what your body tells you to!

-It normalises eating disorder:

When you have toxic diet culture saying you need to be skinny to be beautiful and saying how eating makes you fat of course you will stop eating and develop eating disorder. I am not saying that diet culture is entirely causing eating disorder, but I think it is part of the problem.

Even without it,

it would be people with it but diet culture makes it okay and normal. People with eating disorder don’t see any problem with it because of toxic diet culture. Sometimes people do struggle with eating disorder and then the toxic diet culture just pushes it even more. It is toxic environment to think it is acceptable to treat your body like this!

Reminder: food is your friend not your enemy!

-It is self-perpetuating:

When we buy phone from a store and it doesn’t work, we blame the provider. But when we diet and we gain back the weight because diets don’t work we blame ourselves. People who diet do everything the diet tells them to do, and yet we blame ourselves. Blaming ourselves just makes us feel bad about ourselves. It can cause us to have low self image which is not good for anyone. You would think diet will improve your self image, but it doesn’t! It is really toxic and doesn’t do you any good!!!

-Diet culture promotes seeing your worth only based on how your body looks:

Diet culture always talks about how you need to be skinny and how your worth is based on how you look. First this is so far from the truth. You are enough regardless of how you look and how your body looks like, if you are kind and an amazing person you are enough, we all are enough. But diet culture keeps pushing this stupid narrative. There are so many who do believe it and have trouble with self-worth because of it.

They might not have problem

with loving themselves, but diet culture made them this way. When I now think about it so many insecurities were created by diet culture it is so crazy that we can still support it. You might love yourself, but as humans when you just keep hearing your body type is ugly, and that is why you are not worthy of course you will start to believe it even though deep down you don’t feel this way. This is very toxic because it makes you not love your body!

Reminder: you are more than enough no matter how you look!!

-It promotes privilage for skinny people:

By making this narrative that only skinny people are beautiful. That everyone should make sure they are skinny the diet culture turned our entire society into favouritism among skinny people. When it comes to looking for job they will rather chose skinny person. This way the company has good image, because as diet culture suggests only skinny people are accepted so even when it comes to job search we have developed this belief.

When it comes to plan ticket

when someone is overweight you can just guess. They have to pay more or pay for extra ticket and the airline companies can easily make seats that will suit any body type, but why don’t they do it? Well it probably won’t look too good and of course everyone wants to look good. So if we all agree to stop agreeing with this stupid diet culture everyone would feel much better.

Reminder: only because they say you don’t fit in doesn’t mean that you are not ENOUGH you are more than enough!

Diet culture is only harming the society,

it doesn’t have any positive aspect. Diet culture makes people question their worth, it gives us false perception about food. They make us hate food instead of loving it, because we really should love food it keeps us going. It gives some people unfair privilege and this way promotes discrimination.

As if we don’t have enough

discrimination in the world, we should see how to stop it not promote it. But they will never stop until we stop listening to them. They only have power over us if we let them have power over us. If we don’t listen and see our worth, they can’t manipulate us anymore. By knowing bad things about this diet culture and how toxic it is. Next time you will rethink listening to their bullshit.

I know you are beautiful and enough, let’s us make this world a beautiful place, where everyone feels special!

How to embrace and accept your body?

How to embrace and accept your body?

We live in society that loves to bring us down and make us insecure about your body. Our society earns a lot of money from making us feel insecure. They make us feel insecure about our bodies so we get something done, or we buy that expensive fitness program that will damage my health than actually help me. If there would be bigger opportunity in making us feel beautiful they would do it too. But of course it is easier to sell something to someone when they don’t feel their best vs when they will their best so that is why they do it. And they do it in very smart way, they know when a person keeps hearing someone over and over again this person will eventually believe it even if it is not true.

So they make sure that

we keep hearing how our bodies are not enough so we can eventually believe it and it is so evil but also smart. And even the strongest people can fall for it and start believing it. There is no person on this planet that never had bad body image day and it has nothing to do with your body or you, it is all society.

But we got to stop letting

society control us and control how we feel about ourselves. They can’t hurt you when you have done the work and have accepted your body and can be able to embrace your body the way it is. Of course you might have bad body image days, but they pass by so fast and also far less worse than before (when you didn’t accept your body the way it is). So today I will tell you how you can embrace and accept your body the way it is:

Get to know your body:

We can’t fully love our bodies, if we don’t know our bodies. For you to be able to accept and embrace your body, you need to get to know your body. Try new things and see how your body feels about it, it can be food, exercise or something else. Try meditating this way you will be able to connect with your body and therefore get to know it as well.

Take care of your body,

imagine that being someone you really love and treat your body the way you would treat someone you love. Working out is one of the best and the easiest ways to get to know your body. One other benefit of getting to know your body is that you will be able to know what is good and what is not good for your body. By getting to know your body, you will master listening to your body, which will do you so much good.

Embrace your culture:

Another great way to embrace your body is by incorporating your culture into it. For example you are from South America, how about you take Salsa dancing class or just dance Salsa at home? And while dancing Salsa try to connect with your body and try to listen to your body. It is important to embrace your culture in order to embrace your body! Body and where you come from have direct connection with each other!!

Affirmations:

Affirmations are great way to improve your body image, by saying beautiful affirmations to yourself about your body will help you out so much. As I said when a person keeps hearing something about themselves they will believe it, by saying nice things about your body you will start to believe it. I have put together 7 beautiful affirmations you can tell yourself about your body so your body image can improve click here to check it out!

Highlight unique things about your body:

We tend to focus on the bad thing rather than good things. Instead of always mentioning how you hate certain things about your body, write down what you love about your body. I am sure there are view things you love about your body. Write it down and keep it with you at all times, I suggest writing in your phone. And every time you feel shitty about your body, take out this list and say to yourself aloud. This way you will boost your body image when it is not the best, but also knowing unique things about your body can make you also embrace the flaws about your body.

Embrace the flaws:

Know that without flaws your body wouldn’t be so beautiful. By having flaws that what makes it so unique and also it highlights this way the beauty. So look at your body and its flaws and try to embrace it. Look at things you love about your body and then at the flaws and try to understand because of that flaws you are able to see and have beautiful parts of your body. If everything would be perfect you wouldn’t admire it as much as you admire it now. See your flaws as something that is helping you see the true beauty of your body. If you can’t embrace your flaws, you can’t fully embrace your body either.

Know the bad effects of not loving your body:

Go online and read how damaging bad body image can be for you. Trust me body sees and hears everything and can be really bad for long term. By knowing this I am sure you will try your best to be better to your body, and you will try to love it.

Body-love practice:

By doing your best to take of your body is what will help you feel good in your body. When you had long day at work, take a relaxing bath. When you are busy, take 10 minutes break so your body can breath. When you don’t feel the best, take a time for yourself and really take care of your body.

Get comfortable in your body:

When you don’t accept your body that means you don’t feel 100% comfortable in your body. Do things that will challenge that. For example wear something little bit risky so you challenge yourself. Try also some massages or exercises that will help you with that as well. Whatever you think it might be scary, do it so you 100% feel comfortable in your body.

To feel good about your body and you being able to embrace it, it will take time, but if you try this out I am sure it will improve your body image. By sitting around and not taking care of your body, nothing will happen, but when you do something about it then the change will happen. I hope I helped you out and remember to always love your body no matter how it looks like!!!
